Donald Arthur MacPhee of Springhill passed away peacefully at the All Saints Hospital with his family by his side on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the age of 72. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late William Edward and Alva (McNutt) MacPhee.

Donald was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retirement, he spent countless hours working with his scroll saw creating beautiful pieces. Family was very important to Donald, he loved spending time at the cottage with his family and friends.

Donald will deeply missed by his wife of over 46 years, Karen MacPhee of Springhill; children, Sherry (Paul) Hardie of Williamsdale, NS and Brian (Joy Legere) MacPhee of Springhill; nine sisters, Dorothy MacPhee, Brenda (Gary) Kennedy, Minerva (David) Godfrey, Bernice (Karel) Wilson, Florence (Alan) Canning, Nancy (Frank) Alick, Kathy (Robin) Boss, Debbie MacPhee, all of Springhill, and Beverly (Jack) Ryan of Economy, NS; three brothers, Frank, Alan and Robert, all of Springhill; sister-in-law, Sandra Trueman of Amherst; special friend, Jason Lockhart; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

In addition to his parents Donald was predeceased by brother, William Herbert as well as a brother in infancy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (597-2361). A private graveside service will be held at the Rodney Cemetery, Rev. Ruth Gamble officiating. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Donald may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
