It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of E. Elaine Spence, age 97 years of Amherst, formerly of Oshawa, ON, and Springhill, NS.  Elaine passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. 

Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the Late George and Wilhelmina (Verge) Nutting.

Elaine was lab tech for the Springhill Hospital, and was a teacher while living in Ontario, and loved to travel with her husband.  Elaine was a member of the Nazarene Church.   

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sheila Spence, Amherst, NS; three grandchildren, Carrie Hewitt, Brian (Ashley) Hewitt, and Lindsay Hewitt (Conrad Stewart); 4 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Walter "Bob" Spence; four infant brothers; sisters, Jennie Black, Mary Black, Annie Skidmore, and Doris Morrison.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family committal service in the future in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
