It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Kempt, 62 years of Lower Five Islands, on Friday, July 3, 2026 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, NS.

Born in Springhill, NS, he was a son of Jessie Margaret (Boutlier) and the late Frank Frederick Kempt.

Mike was affectionately known as "Boo" by most everyone.  He earned his living as a clam digger in the Five Islands area.  He was a handyman and was able to fix most anything for anyone.  Everyone knew Mike could do it.

Mike will be dearly missed by his partner, Donna Morris, as well as his mother, Jessie and his brother Fred as well as his dear friends throughout the community.   

Besides his father, he was predeceased by his sisters, Sandra Malally and Margaret Kempt.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, NS (902-597-2361).   Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Mike's life will be held at the Five Islands Fire Department at a later date to be announced. 

Donations in memory of Mike may be made to the Five Islands Fire Department or a charity of the donor''s choice.
