It is with sadness we announce the
passing of Cathy Ann MacAloney, age 74 of
Amherst, on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at the Cumberland Regional Health
Care Centre.
Born and raised in Springhill, NS, Cathy
was a daughter of the late Allan and Eleanor (Sweeney)
McNeil.
Cathy was a strong woman who loved to
always share stories of her family and life growing up. She spent many
years working at Oxford Frozen Foods where she met many dear friends.
She had a passion for music and enjoyed colouring, watching movies and
having sleep overs with her grandchildren. Some of her fondest
memories were of rocking out with her children and their friends and
watching them perform. Cathy also cherished long drives with her
husband and many happy years they shared
together.
Cathy will be dearly missed by her
husband Merton, daughter Barbie (Daniel) Miller of Amherst, N.S., and
son Paul MacAloney of Toronto, ON, granddaughters Krista
Hopper (Natasha) of Riverview N.B.; Lindsay Rector (Sam Walker) of
Amherst N.S.; Savannah Miller (Jeremy Poirier) of Moncton N.B.; Neela
MacAloney and her mother Tammy White of Springhill N.S.; and Stephanie
Carrière (Eric) of Calgary A.B., as well as her great
granddaughter, Ella Zollner of Amherst, N.S. She is also survived by
her sister Marjorie (late Ralph) Davis among many nieces, nephews and
in-laws.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her beloved son Jason MacAloney, brother Donald McNeil and many
other family members.
Cathy also leave behind her beloved
kitty cat, Little Boy, who brought her comfort and
companionship.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral
