With great sadness and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Colin "Kim" Kimbel Matheson, age 90, of Truro, formerly of Springhill. Kim passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Colchester East Hants Health Care Centre.

Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Kenneth (b. Isle of Sky, Scotland) and Mary (b. Bochum, Germany) (Older) Matheson.

Kim spent 25 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an airframe technician, retiring in 1984.  During his career in the RCAF, this allowed him to travel the world to places like Africa, Australia, Europe, the US, all over Canada and even was posted in Dar es Salaam for a year peacekeeping.  Kim played Old Timers hockey up until his mid-60's and also loved to golf, refining his golf skills late in life, only starting to play at age 40.  He was known to be a great golfer by those that knew him.  He even achieved two holes-in-one over his years in golfing.  He had memberships over the years at the Comox Golf Club, Springhill Golf Club, Amherst Golf Club and the Truro Golf Club.  Kim enjoyed playing cribbage, which was a tradition at family get togethers.  He enjoyed blueberry farming with his family in his retirement, enjoyed the outdoors and visiting the maple woods.

He will always be remembered with much love and will be dearly missed by his wife Eleanor (Hayden); his daughter, Lee-Ann; sister Carol White and his son Steven Rogers. He also had a special bond with his grand-dog, Sophie.  As well, he will be dearly missed by other family members, friends and neighbors he has met over the years.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Marilyn, a brother Douglas and brother Roger.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visitation will take place Saturday, April 6th, 2024 from 1 PM to 1:30 PM followed immediately by the funeral service with Ruth Gamble, DLM presiding, followed by a reception. The family encourages everyone to wear their best golf shirt or hat to honour Kim and his love of the game.

Those wishing to make a donation in Kim's memory may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial at www.brownsfuneralhome.com or through the A H Brown Funeral Home Facebook Page.
