It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Lillian Eileen Aylward on October 30th, 2023 in the presence of family at All Saints Hospital in Springhill. 

Born in Springhill on October 6th, 1933, Lillian was the daughter of James Merlin Hayes and Christina (Higgins) Hayes. 

Lillian enjoyed her outings to town, as it gave her the opportunity to socialize with friends and acquaintances along the way. She also enjoyed her frequent trips to visit family in Yarmouth. No matter where she spent her time, she made certain that everyone was fed and had their favorite treats. 

Lillian will be dearly missed by her children, Gerry (Mac) Cushing, Rick Aylward, and Rob (Jennifer) Aylward; grandchildren Abbie, Lesley, Mark, Michael and Brian; great grandchildren Matthew, Lilly, Chloe, Madeline, Liam, Dakarai and Jahmya; and special nephew Bruce Cottonden, spouse Valerie, and their two children Jamie and Jennifer . 

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her daughter Cathy Lynn, sisters Mary Cottonden and Verna Herret, as well as her nephew David Cottonden. 

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of A.H.Brown Funeral Home , 5 McFarlane Street , Springhill. 

For those who wish to do so, in light of Lillian’s love of animals, donations in memory may be sent to SPCA, or charity of choice.

Burial and a Celebration of Life will be held sometime in the spring.
