It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sharon Ann Stone, 76, of Springhill, NS at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Ann was born in Springhill, a daughter of the late Douglas and Annie (MacDonald) Ellis.
Ann was an avid curler, having curled for many years and as a spectator. She had a great passion for Coronation Street. Ann loved watching her grandchildren play hockey and baseball and has been in every ballpark from the Cameron Bowl to Yankee Stadium. She was active in volunteering and fundraising, especially if it had anything to do with the children, including the Lion's Park Revitalization Committee which was responsible for raising $25,000 through the TSN KRAFT Celebration Tour, as well as rallying her community to rejuvinate the coal carts in the Industrial Park, and was a proud member of the Executive Board for the GOVRC. Ann had been an LPN at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for fifteen years prior to her retirement.
An active and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother she was affectionately named "Ninnie"
She will be dearly missed by her children, Dana
(Mike) Stone, Red Lake, ON, Rhonda (Danny) Weatherbee, Springhill, and
Joel (Melissa) Stone, Springhill; ten grandchildren, Tyler, Jerry,
Brandon, Bryce, Nick, Micah, Brittanie, Brooke, Nate and Mats; ten
great grandchildren and three more on the way; her brother, Carson
(Kathy) Ellis and her sisters, Barbara (Don) Hurley and Mary Ellen
(Bob) Squarebriggs, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by her brother, Billy at the age of 8.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361). Honouring Ann's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 1 pm.
