Tabor Grant Jackson (A.K.A.
Mudcat), 79 years of age born April 1st, 1944, passed
away peacefully after a lengthy illness, at All Saints Springhill
Hospital on Sunday, August 27, 2023, where he was surrounded by
family.
Grant retired from a career as a Correctional Officer and
Unit Manager with Correctional Services of Canada. He served in the
Canadian Armed Forces and worked as a Welder at Robbs
Engineering.
Grant will be remembered best as a masterful storyteller and
musician. He was an amazing guitar player and his stories kept
everyone in stitches! Grant took great pride being a Mason and
Shriner, being a Master Mason-Laurie Lodge #70. He was an avid hunter
and fisherman spending much time at his camp at Economy
Lake.
For many years he enjoyed spending his winters with Diane and
their close friends at their home in Florida. They spent summers at
Sand Point Campground at Five Islands. Grant loved to entertain the
other campers with his guitar playing into the night and spent his
days flounder and bass fishing.
He spent many years as a fastball, baseball and hockey player
and a lifetime all around sports fan. He played fastball for the
Springhill Bucks. His teams were the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay
Lightning. A highlight of his winters in Florida was watching spring
training.
Grant is survived by his loving partner Diane Schurman,
Springhill; his son Ken (Maryanne) Jackson, Amherst, daughter Karen
Spence, Oshawa; grandchildren Luke Jackson and Sydney (Jesse) Jackson;
brother Gary (Bonnie) Jackson, Amherst. He is also survived by his
