It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lorna Lorraine Schurman, age 63, of Rodney. Lorna passed away on Wednesday August 23, 2023 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre after a short battle with cancer with family by her side.

Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the late Laurie Maine and Marie King.

Lorna worked many years in dietary at the Amherst Highland View Hospital. She spent the last 20 years of her life working at Surette Battery Company in shipping and receiving. 

Lorna loved to read, garden, travel and spending time with her family. Her daughters Beverly, Amanda and Melanie meant the world to her. The loss of her daughter Amanda last fall hit her very hard.

Lorna will be dearly missed by her husband and travel partner Rupert Schurman; daughters Beverly (Jay) Deuitch, Forest Grove, Oregon and Melanie (Zak) Ripley, Springhill; son-in-law Lucas McNeil; grandchildren Ellie, Penelope, and Oliver; her sister Beverly (Darren) Ripley of River Philip and Cathy (Lorne) Harrison of Southland River, Pictou County and her cat "My Boy".

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the A H  Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). A Celebration of life for Lorna will take place at Lorna's home at 929 Rodney Road in Rodney on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 from 11 AM - 3 PM.
