In loving memory of James "Jim" Gary McNutt; beloved father of Gary (Sonyia) McNutt and Rhonda  McNutt; and wonderful husband to Carol Anne.  We sadly announce his passing at East Cumberland Lodge in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Ross and Mae (Terris) McNutt.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his grandchildren Jacy (Evan) Dickie, Celsea McNutt, Cody Miller and Chad Miller; great grandchildren Charlie Miller, Scarlet Dickie, and Ivy Dickie.  He was predeceased by his brothers Bill and Ralph McNutt.

Jim was a wonderful husband all of our 60 years of marriage, having married in 1963 in London, ON.  We met when Jim was 17 years old.  He was 82 when he passed and had a happy and full life doing the things he liked.  He was a hard worker, living in Ontario until he was 35.  After working long shifts at Ford Motor Company for 18 years, he returned to Springhill, NS where he found employment at Surrette Battery Company for 28 years retiring at age 59, continuing to work on his own looking after blueberry fields, snow removal and enjoying his hobbies and doing whatever came along.  Jim had many customers in his blueberry business and snow removal and kept busy summer, fall, and winter.

We had many fur friends, (yellow labs) through the years; Buddy, Yeller, Buck, and they were a great enjoyment for Jim.  He also enjoyed his camp at Cleveland Lake.  His hobbies were hunting, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, and grabbing a bite at Grannie's at Five Islands.

When Jim lived in London, ON, he raced cars at the drag strip; having throttle in full gear.  He was called a daredevil by many of his friends.  He also had a great time racing snowmobiles at winter carnivals on oval ice tracks.  He also enjoyed motocross racing at times.  He always kept busy; playing baseball in his spare time.  He enjoyed baseball and hockey, watching his son Gary from house league up to the Amherst Ramblers, as well as watching his grandsons Cody and Chad.

He enjoyed caring for his own fields and helping other blueberry producers through John Bragg Enterprises and Doug Bragg Enterprises.

Rest in Peace Jim.  Have a rest, we will forever think of you.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, (902-597-2361).  Cremation has taken place.  There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time.  Burial will take place in the Rodney Cemetery at a later date.

Jim would be touched to know of everyone's care and concern for he and his family.  A special thank you to the VON Care Support staff for all their care.

For those who wish to do so, donations may be made to the LA Animal Shelter or charity of your choice.
