It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ethel Mae "Nanny Choo Choo" Dikens, age 97, of Springhill, NS. Ethel passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Salvation Army Lakeview Manor in Riverview, NB.

Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Minnie (Dykens) MacDonald.

Ethel was privileged to have lived in many places and gained many lifelong friends. She worked for Maritime Tel and Tel in Halifax and as a young operator was able to save the life of a lady who was being gassed by the stove. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge # 115 in Halifax and Londonderry, NS and was also involved with the Maple Sugar Squares in Collingwood and the Cumberland Twirlers in Nappan, and was a member of the Red Hatters in Amherst. Ethel loved to play cards and enjoyed sewing.

She will be sadly missed by son, Rick (Una), Riverview, NB; four grandchildren, Rhonda Gillespie, Trevor Dikens, Candace Dikens and Ricky Dikens; as well as seven great grandchildren, Kristen, Caleb, Justin, Mila, Roslyn, Lincoln, Scarlett; foster sons, David (Hope) Rutt, Zealand, NB and Brett Kaizer, Pugwash, NS.

She was predeceased by her husband, George W. Dikens; brothers, Robert, Percy, Archie and Albert; sisters, Jessie, Essie, Annie, Lillian, Alice, Hazel, Nellie and Jean.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 1 until 2 pm, followed immediately at 2 pm by her funeral service, Ruth Gamble, DLM officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill,
