It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing
of Elizabeth Yvonne Ferguson, age 68, of
Springhill, NS. Elizabeth passed away at the High Crest Nursing Home
on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 with family by her side.
Born in Sydney, NS, she was the daughter of the late John and
Beatrice (Evans) D’Orsay.
A loving wife and mother, Elizabeth was the community health
nurse in Springhill for many years. She was recognized numerous times
by the community for her impact within postnatal care. Many years
later babies she helped take care of are now having babies of their
own. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing and singing with the
singing group "Just Friends" as well as "The
Carmenettes". A true Cape Bretoner, she always kept in touch with
her family from home ensuring to visit often. She was an incredible
mother who always prioritized her children. You could find Elizabeth
completing the daily crossword, taking part in church activities or
going for walks. She enjoyed being active continuing to do yoga and
swimming for many years. She was an avid African violet gardener and
tea drinker.
Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her husband Kenneth,
Springhill; sons Alan (Kaylah Villeneuve), Sudbury, ON, David,
Dartmouth, Edward, Moose Jaw, SK; grandson Arlo; siblings Jack (Linda)
D’Orsay, Sydney, Cathy (Mike) Devine, Debert, Lorne (Louise)
D’Orsay, Boularderie Island, Cape Breton.
She was predeceased by her brother Glen
D’Orsay.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of the
A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St.,
Springhill, NS (902-597-2361), where visiting hours will be held on
Sunday from 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Service for Elizabeth will be held on
Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11 am, Rev. Dr. Brian J. Spence officiating.
Elizabeth will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery,
Springhill.
Those wishing to make a donation in Elizabeth's memory may do
so to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Elizabeth's family wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to
the staff of High Crest Nursing Home for their dedication and care
over the years.
