Margaret Mary Johnson (nee Bourque)
Our beautiful Margaret left us on May 21st with her beloved husband of 65 years, Ivan, by her side.
Born in
Amherst Nova Scotia in 1933, Margaret was predeceased by her parents
Selena Landry and Edward Bourque, and brother Donald Bourque. Margaret
also leaves behind her adoring sister Beatrice MacTavish,
sister-in-law Thelma Bourque and her treasured nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
For many years, Marg was
happiest on the back of the motorcycle travelling with Ivan. After a
career at the neighbourhood Bank of Montreal, Margaret found much
fulfillment in her 27 years of volunteering at the Queensway Health
Centre. They were happily active in many social and charitable groups
- the Retreads Motorcycle Club, North America 40+ Touring Riders, and
the Moose Lodge to name a few. Marg and Ivan travelled extensively
across Europe, Australia and the Caribbean, often with good friends
Sheila & Mike and Helen & Ron, forming deep and
enduring friendships everywhere they went. Warm and outgoing, Marg
loved to entertain and spend time with family, welcoming many regular
visitors to their home.
The family wishes to thank the
amazing neighbours and friends who have been so caring and helpful to
Margaret and Ivan.
At Margaret’s request,
there will be no service.
There will be a family committal under the care and direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) to take place at a later date at the Hillside Cemetery.
Memories and
condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the online memorial
