The family of Eleanor Ruth Prentice are saddened to announce her peaceful passing at Springhill All Saints Hospital on January 16, 2022 at the age of 99.

Born September 3rd, 1922 in Springhill, she lived most of her life in Springhill, except for the past few years at Centennial Villa in Amherst. Eleanor was a lifelong member of St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church and the Springhill chapter of IODE. An avid card player, she spent many years joining friends for their Wednesday night game of bridge and more recently cards with friends at Centennial Villa. Eleanor in her quiet way contributed in many ways to her community through baking, knitting and volunteering.

Many summers were spent at Northport, NS and that love has passed on to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family dinners and sweet trays are lifelong memories for her grandkids.

She is survived by son John (Barbara), and daughter Ruth Norton (Stuart), five grandchildren - Erin(Mac) Adams, Chris (Anna)Prentice, Colin (Kourtney)Prentice, Jilliian(Joe) Wallace, Graham(Marie)Norton, eleven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was predeceased by husband W.G. Prentice, parents Embert and Flora Wry, and siblings Douglas and Muriel. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Arrangements are under the care of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlene Street, Springhill (902-597-2361). Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the A. H. Brown Funeral Home, with K. Ruth Gamble, DLM officiating. Burial to follow in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. The family has requested that masks be worn.

The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to the staff of Centennial Villa and All Saints Hospital for their kindness and care.
