It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Eileen Sweeney of Springhill. Helen passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Springhill, NS.

Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Nancy Vietta "Violet" (Foster) MacDonald.

Helen worked for over 28 years between the Amherst and Springhill Hospitals, as a CNA. She was very devoted to her family, and friends. She was a member of St. Andrews Wesley United Church, Springhill. Helen enjoyed traveling, curling, dancing, playing washer toss, attending Springhill Senior Citizen Club functions, and especially time at her cottages. She loved life and lived it to the fullest through simple pleasures. She loved being around people and had the ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Brenda (Austin) Williams, Springhill and Bonnie (David) Rushton, Rodney; grandchildren, Douglas (Kelly) Williams, Tracy (Sean) King, Paul (Carrie) Williams, Erin (Evan Smith) Rushton and Derek (Karrie) Rushton; fourteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; grandson-in-law, John Collins, Fenwick, NS

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Alister Sweeney; granddaughter, Nancy Collins; brother, Gordon and infant brother Douglas; infant sister, Mildred; nephews Robbie MacDonald and Gary Vickery; as well as her best friend Marge Chapman.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, NS, (902 597 2361). A graveside committal service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date.
