Arnold B. Blenkhorn

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Arnold Blenkhorn, 99, of Athol, NS, on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his residence.

Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Cecil T. and Anna M. (Mitchell) Blenkhorn.

Arnold grew up on a farm in Southampton than graduated from Agriculture College in Truro.  A proud Veteran, he was a member of the 415th Swordfish Squadron, Bomber Command, in the Second World War.  He returned from the war, marrying his wife of over 70 years, Catherine, and together they took over her family dairy farm.  He was Marsh Lands Supervisor for Cumberland County for close to 30 years.  Retirement suited him.  He sang with the Barbershop Quartet, the Travelers, and his church choir.  He started curling in his retirement, and curled for over 30 years.  He enjoyed watching and playing hockey, playing from a young man well into his 60's.

He will be sadly missed by his three children, David (Avis) Blenkhorn, Bedford, Allan (Jennifer) Blenkhorn, Halifax, and Ann (Michael) Almon, Halifax;  five grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and many wonderful friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Catherine; brothers Charles and Harold.
