It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Harold Gary Embree, age 79, of Economy, NS, formerly of Springhill, NS. Gary passed away at home on Monday, October 19, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Springhill, NS, he was a son of the late Buck and Hazel (Legere) Embree.

At the age of 17, Gary's father and uncles passed away in "The Bump", forcing him into the role of Patriarch to his siblings and helping to shape his life moving forward. Gary faced life with vigor, taking on any job that came his way, from digging ditches, to working in the mines, to working for the Department of Highways. He loved to barter, often trading his "junk" for someone else's "junk" that he would treasure until the next trade. Gary was an avid outdoors man, hunting, fishing, and just spending time in the woods. Bass fishing at "The Cove" became his passion after moving to Economy some 20 years ago. Gary had a story and life lesson for every moment that always led to a joke and would make everyone laugh. He loved his bonfires, family gatherings, dancing, playing cards, and hanging out with his boys in the garage. A special thanks to his brother Paul who helped him put his life story to words, and have it published for his friends and family.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Victoria "Vickie", Economy; children Roger (Kim), Sackville, NB, Kevin, Debert, NS, Tracey (Michael) Dartmouth, NS, Jason (Charlene), Debert, NS; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren; siblings Eddie (Rose), Springhill, NS, Brenda (John) Hunter, Springhill, NS, Lois (Fred) Miller, Springhill, NS, Laurie King, Halifax, NS, Paul (Chris), Sackville, NB, and Sherry (Dan) Calder, Truro, NS; brother in law Russell (Sherry) Rector, Amherst, NS.

He was predeceased by his great grandson Zachariah Parsons as well as siblings Reggie, Sharon Embree, Janice Casey, and Karen Purdy.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral at this time.

Donations in memory of Gary may be made to the Colchester VON.

Many thanks to doctors, Dr. Henderson, Dr. Rowe, nurse Angela McDonnell, Special Care Coordinator Cheryl Stevens, the various VON Nurses, and his angel and daughter Tracey for her special support.
