Doris Ellen Sears

1925-2020

Doris Ellen Sears

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Doris Ellen Sears, 95, of Springhill, on Friday, July 10, 2020 in High Crest Nursing Home.  Born in Springhill, Doris was a daughter of the late Alex and Reta (Davis) MacPherson.

Doris was a member of the Anglican Church Guild and the local Bridge Club.  She had worked part time in the Post Office and at the Sears Catalogue store in town.  She was an avid reader and had also worked at the Springhill Library for many years.

Doris loved taking a chance and doing a bit of gambling during her trips to the casino.  She very much looked forward to the summer and watching her favourite team, The Toronto Blue Jays.  She was also a lover of tennis and curling and enjoyed a dram of whiskey in the evening.

She was a devoted an loving mother, grandmother, and soon-to-be great grandmother.

Doris will be missed by her sons, Murray (Alison), Cole Harbour, NS and Frank (Debbie), Kingston, NS; grandsons, Craig (Courtney), David (Ainsley), and Tim (Crystal), all of Dartmouth.

Doris was expecting her first great grandchild within the week.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank and her sister June (Late Johnny) MacNeill, of Port Charlotte, Florida.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of High Crest Nursing Home for their incredible care and compassion for mom during her stay.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902-597-2361).   A graveside service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery in Springhill on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 1:30.  The Rev. Dr. Brian Spence presiding.
