It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Ruth Carlyle Spence, age 73, of Port Howe, NS. Ruth passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2020 with her husband by her side, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the late Bud and Gertrude (Nicholson) Boran.

Ruth was a dedicated wife of 51 years and loving mother to her three boys. After graduating Nursing, she worked in the heart clinic in Saint John, NB., then in Ottawa, returning to the QE2 in Halifax where she worked in the heart unit and then for Cobequid Nursing in Lower Sackville and finally Emergency Nursing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre until her retirement. The love of her life was her family and her home at the beach. Cross-stitching was a passion of hers, as well as Curling in Pugwash.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Bill, Port Howe; 3 sons, Billy (Simone), Hammonds Plains, NS, Michael (Celina), Truro, NS and Jamie (Suzannah), Hammonds Plains, NS; 8 grandchildren, Kyle, Abbey, Elle, Levi, Graydon, Hudson, Katie, and Sara; and brother Tom Boran, Pugwash, NS.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister in law Debbie Boran.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill. (902-597-2361). Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, NS at a later date.

Ruth's family would like to thank the Doctors and staff of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for all their care and love towards Ruth and her family during her final days. They truly went above and beyond for her.
