It is with great sorrow that the family of
Clarence William "Billy"
Oulton announce his peaceful passing on Friday July 31,
2015 in his home in Springhill, NS at the age of 86. Born on September
20, 1928, in Springhill, NS he is the son of the late Thomas and
Myrtle.
A true Springhiller, Bill was born and
raised in the house where he passed. Bill met his wife Dee Dee and
they were married on August 1, 1953 in Springhill where the couple
raised their two sons William "Billy" and Donald
"Donnie". During his early years, Bill worked as a
miner in the Springhill Mine and for the Butter-Nut Bakeries
delivering bread. After surviving a mine collapse, Bill served with
the Canadian Forces as a member of the Signal Corps. Following his
time with the forces, Bill became an honorary fireman with the
Springhill Fire Department and worked as a correctional officer at
both the Dorchester and Springhill Penitentiary. After the birth of
his grandchildren, Bill retired from Corrections to spend more time
with his growing family. Throughout his life Bill was an avid
fisherman and hunter and loved dancing, going to the cottage in Five
Islands, bowling, digging in his garden and spending time with his
family.
Bill was the most wonderful husband,
father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his sons William
"Billy" of Port Alberni, BC and Donald
"Donnie" (Charlene) of Springhill; granddaughters
Sheila Laundry (Matt) of Leduc, AB and Hayley Spence (Chris) of
Springhill; grandsons William "Billy" of Alberta,
Dylan and Brandon of Springhill; as well as his great-grandchildren
Hayden, William, Evan and Gage.
Aside from his parents, Bill was predeceased by
his wife Dorothy "Dee Dee" Oulton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown’s Funeral
Service, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). In keeping
with Bill’s wishes visitation will not be held but a
