It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Rod Smith, age 64, of Springhill.  Rod passed away at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre on Sunday, July 12, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Springhill, he was the son of Anna (Burden) Smith and the late Raymond M. Smith.

Rod was always an avid sports fan, closely following the NFL, MLB and NHL.  Golf was always a passion, as he enjoyed playing the game and socializing with his many golf buddies at various courses across the country.

Rod had a life long career with the insurance industry, retiring from Combined Insurance four years ago.

In addition to his mother, he will be sadly missed by his sisters Pamela (Wally) Simpson, Truro, Barbara (Dave) Murray, Rodney; nieces and nephews; Peter (Julie) Simpson, Jill (Justin) Belliveau, Lydia Simpson, Ryan (Shauna) Murray, Stephanie Murray and Kyle Murray and many wonderful friends.


Cremation has taken place.  Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will take place on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 1 until 2 pm followed immediately at 2 pm with his funeral service officiated by Rev. Wayne McCarther.  Reception to follow.
