It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jewell Ellen Melanson, age 76, of Springhill.  Jewell passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Born in Parrsboro, NS, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Doris (Allen) Field.

Jewell  loved baseball and hockey. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling across the country. In her younger days she liked to garden.
Jewell will be sadly missed  by her loving husband, Jim "Pokey" , daughter Sherry Roy (Kevin) of Hunts Point, NS, sons, Rick (Marilyn) of Springhill, NS, Bill (Lorraine) of Point de Bute, NB, Jim (Sandra) of Dartmouth, NS, Kevin (Chrissy) of Bouctouche, NB; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren,  sister, Norma Hamel of Parrsboro, NS,many nieces and nephews and her cat, Fluffy.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her still born sister, Mary Alice, sisters, Ruth Barnes, Lillian Hamel,; brothers, Elmer Field Jr., Louis Field, David Field.Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 7-9 p.m.  and on Sunday from 12- 2 p.m. with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial to take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, NS.
