George
William Blenkhorn, 79, of Southampton, passed away peacefully with his
family by his side at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on
Friday, June 19, 2015. Born in South Athol, he was
the only son of the late Wilfred and Patience
Blenkhorn.
He was
employed at the Nappan Research Station for twenty-eight and a half
years. Following retirement, he was
self-employed in the forestry industry.
George
Enjoyed bowling and attending the seniors cards
parties. He was a member of the
Springhill Senior Citizens Association.
In his
earlier years, he and Betty enjoyed dancing and
snowmobiling.
He is
survived by a son, Michael, daughter Carolee, granddaughter Taylor,
all of Springhill, sisters, Alice (Laurence) Harrison and Audrey
(Ormond) Boss, Amherst, Kathleen (Eugene) Manderville, Belleville, ON,
Barb (Ed) Gilbert, Athol, and several nieces
and
nephews. Besides his parents he was
predeceased by his wife Betty Lou Bird in
2011.
George's
remains have been entrusted into the care of A.H. Brown Funeral Home,
5 McFarlane Street, Springhill.
A
memorial service will be held at the Southampton United Church, at 11
am, Saturday, June 27, 2015. Those who wish to make a
donation in George's memory may donation to the Southampton United
Church or the Southampton Cemetery.
