It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Cyril Lione Henwood, age 90 years, of Amherst and formerly of Springhill.  Cyril passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.  

Born at Springhill Junction, he was a son of the late Thomas and Ethel (Graham) Henwood.

His life's work began as a Coal Miner in Springhill, then continued in the Canadian Armed Forces.  He was an avid fisherman with brother Harold.

He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Eileen Audrey Burton, Amherst; sons, Carson (Dianne) of Ottawa and David, Amherst; grandchildren Anne Marie (Murray) Harman and Ross Henwood; great grandchildren Jenna and Luke Harman; brother, Harold (Bessie) of Springhill; sisters, Muriel Brine, Amherst, Christina Summers, Oxford and Olive Holland of British Columbia.

He was predeceased by brothers, Victor and Ralph G.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361).  In keeping with Cyril's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, with The Reverend Nigel Weaver officiating followed by a light lunch at the Funeral Home.
