It is with sadness that we must announce the passing of
George Arthur Sterling, age 84, of River Philip, NS. George passed
away with family by his side at All Saints Hospital, Springhill on
Saturday, April 4, 2015.
Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Charles and
Bertha (MacKenzie) Sterling.
George was a member of the Mason's Widow's Son Lodge #48,
River Philip. Very active in the lodge, he was a Past Master and a
Past Chaplain. He loved hunting and fishing. For many years he owned
and operated Cumberland Firearms and was an excellent Gunsmith. He
especially loved his wife Hazel of over 50 years, and time with their
family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Hazelann White Sterling,
River Philip; children Ken (Linda), Miscouche, PE, Gary (Anne),
Springhill, Rose Sterling, Ottawa, ON, Margaret Sterling (Ray
LeBlanc), Moncton, NB and David (Delores), Ottawa, ON; step-children
Ann (Dieter) Schmitt, Alliston, ON and Earl Boss, Diligent River, NS;
14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings Les, Olga, Verna, Eleanor, and
Edith.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral
Service, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). Cremation has
taken place. In keeping with George's wishes, there will be no
visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will take place at
a later date.
