James Donald Legere, Age 82, of Springhill, NS passed away
surrounded by loving family on February 16, 2015 at The All Saints
Hospital after a long and courageous battle with
cancer.
Son of the late Archie & Mary (McNeil) Legere of
Springhill.
Survived by his loving wife of 61 years Joyce (Alderson),
Children: Debbie, Fran, Jimbo and Dru, Grandchildren; Ali, Adam,
Christopher, Samantha, Stephanie and Alicia, Brother Jack and many
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Leo, Francis and
Douglas.
He was a Korean War veteran and member of RCL Branch 17
Springhill, a Springhill miner, and a corrections officer. After
retiring, he traveled in his motorhome across the US before eventually
becoming a "Winter Texan" for 19 years. He really enjoyed
people and was well liked by all who knew him. Having many skills, he
was always there to help both family and friends.
His good times included being a devoted husband, hockey Dad
and Granddad, driving snowmobiles and motorcycles at "The
Camp", playing cards, fishing , yard sailing / bargain hunting
and social evenings on the front porch. Our Dad gave us children and
all his grandchildren the most precious gift possible
his
time and unconditional love.
He is our shining star and will remain forever bright.
We would like to thank the many
neighbors and friends who helped in our time of need, the
Dr.’s and the wonderful VON and palliative care unit staff
as well as our local Pharmasave, Ken and staff.
Arrangemetns were entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Service,
Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). There will be no services at his
request. Memorial donations may be made to the palliative care unit
(All Saints Hospital, Springhill). Words of comfort and condolences
may be sent to the family on line at www.brownsfuneralhome.com
