It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing
of Norma Estelle Mills, age 75, of East Mapleton, NS. Norma
passed away at her home on Sunday, January 25, 2015.
Born in Middleton, NS, she was the daughter of the late George
and Doris (Healy) Risteen.
Norma worked beside
her late husband, Ancil, for many years, operating a successful wild
blueberry farm and maple sugar woods. They loved to square
dance and spent many years dancing together. They were
members of the Cumberland Twirlers and later founded the Mountatin Top
Teen Square Dancing Club. In later years they enjoyed
traveling to craft shows and selling their hand made wood
working. She was a past member of the Mapleton Sewing Circle
and long time member of the Pythian Sisters. She was an
active mother and grandmother and loved to be involved with her
children and grandchildren's lives.
She will be
sadly missed by her daughters, Wanda (David) Theriault of Pictou,
Carla (Jeff) Perrin, East Mapleton; grandchildren, Christopher
(Stephanie), Brad (Jillian), Steve (Sabrina), Alex; great
granddaughter, Madisyn Perrin; sister-in-law Norma Crawford, East
Mapleton.
She was predeceased by
husband Ancil; son, Dale; brother, Raymond; brother in law Tom
Crawford.
Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill,
(902 597 2361) from where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6
to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday,
January 29, 2015 at 2 pm, Rev. Wayne McCarther
officiating. Burial
will take place in the Mapleton Cemetery at a later date.
