It is with sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing
of Jerry Wood, age 96, of Springhill, NS. Jerry passed away
at the East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash on Thursday, August 28,
2014.
Born in Newville Lake, NS, he was a son
of the late Eddy and Nettie (Pettigrew) Wood.
Jerry was a veteran of World War II, having participated in
D-Day. He was a Coal Miner, and later a Correctional Officer
at the Dorchester and Springhill Penitentiaries. Jerry loved
his camp in Williamsdale and spent many enjoyable days out there with
his wife and family. He could often be seen in one of his
many cars on a casual drive.
He will be sadly
missed by his son Croyden (Karen), Springhill; grandchildren, Marla
(Kevin) Chapman, Cinda WIlligar (Steve) and Roger Hollis (Tanya
Hatfield); 8 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews; special friend Kay MacDonald,
Springhill.
He was predeceased by his wife
Ardythe Ryan, sisters Eva Slater and Pearl Hepburn.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will
take place on Sunday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service
will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 2 pm from A H Brown
Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery,
Springhill, NS.
