The passing of Brenda Joyce
Matthews, 66, of Springhill occurred at her home on
Monday, July 28, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in
Springhill, Brenda was a daughter of the late Clinton and Devona
"Bonnie" (Ryan) Mattinson.
Brenda spent time cooking at Harry Chases and brought many of
these recipes home as she loved to cook for her family and friends.
She later worked at Knol's Farms and Oxford Frozen Foods. She was a
loving mother, wife, sister and loved spending time with her many
grandchildren. She enjoyed her tug-of-war days, dancing, spending time
at the camp and going for drives. She was always seen with her dogs
whom she never went anywhere without.
Brenda will be deeply missed by her husband, George
Matthews of Springhill; three daughters, Dawn Doucet, Springhill,
Michelle (Ryan) Mattix, Springhill and Jessica Colborne, Amherst; a
son, Sonny Matthews, Springhill; twelve grandchildren, Kris, Sean,
Brandan, Maddison, Jordyn, Reegan, Shelby, Chelsey, Spencer, Molly,
Hunter and Charlie; three sisters, Audrey Mattinson, Springhill, Inez
(Alan) Boss, Springhill, and Margaret (Eric) Doncaster, Alberta; two
brothers, Carman (Ellie) Mattinson, Oxford and Doug Mattinson,
Springhill, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Brenda was predeceased by a brother,
Kenneth Mattinson.
Cremation has taken place under the care and supervision of
A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (597-2361).
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 31, 2014
from 12 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 pm. Burial will follow
in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. Rev. Errol Patriquin
officiating.
