It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Lillian (Canning) McCulley, age 93, of Springhill and Parrsboro.  Lillian passed away peacefully at High Crest Nursing Home on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late William and Rhoda (MacKenzie) Murray.

Lillian was a member of St. Andrews Wesley United Church, where she sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School.  She also attended Trinity United Church, Parrsboro where she was also a choir member.  She was a well loved teacher in the Springhill Elementary Schools for 24 years.  She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and was a volunteer at High Crest Nursing Home.  Always active, she loved spending time at the beach, line dancing, cross stitch, curling, needle point, and attending the seniors group where she was an avid card player.

Above all came her family that she cherished and who will miss her dearly.  She leaves behind her second husband, Donald McCulley, Springhill/Parrsboro; daughters, Dorothy Harroun and Lorraine (Michael) MacDonald, both of Springhill; step-son Eddie (Nancy) McCulley, Parrsboro; step-daughters Brenda (Wayne) Estabrooks, Sackville, NB, Sharon (Neil) McCulley, Parrsboro, 5 grandchildren, Daniel Harroun, Stuart Harroun, Jennifer (Jeff Dumville) Matthews, Amy (Jeff) Katerynych, and Adam (Jen Gosbee) Matthews; 5 great grandchildren Bailey and Brynn Dumville, Xannah, Chloe and Oliver Katerynych; step grandchildren, Natalie MacDonald, Christopher (Melissa) MacDonald, Michelle (Randy) Delorey, and Brian MacDonald, Julian, Brett, Riley, Jonathan and Christopher McCulley; step great grandchildren Nicholas, William and Claire Delorey, Ella, and Jovie McCulley; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband Ronald Canning; brothers Robert, Herbert, Hugh, Ralphie and Arthur Murray and sister Dorothy Ross.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will take place on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  The funeral service will take place from St. Andrew's Wesley United Church, Springhill on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 2 pm, Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rodney Cemetery.

Those wishing to make a donation in Lillian's memory may do so to the St. Andrew's Wesley United Church, Springhill, the Trinity United Church, Parrsboro, or the charity of your choice.
