The death of Melvin Roy "Toby" Weatherbee, of Springhill, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Monday, May 20, 2013 one day before his 81st birthday. Melvin was born in Springhill, a son of the late Percy and Lillus (Coleman) Weatherbee.

Melvin was a member of the St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill.

He had worked as Foreman on the Extra Gang, maintaining the railway tracks from Quebec to Nova Scotia with CNR. When he wasn't working, he was often helping family and friends throughout the community. He enjoyed watching sports, including curling and wrestling, and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He was an outstanding family man and will be missed by his family and friends.

Melvin will be sadly missed by his wife Marguerite (Dujay), with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 18 of this year. He will also be missed by; four daughters, Sharon Clarke, of Springhill, Connie (Alfred) Dwyer, of Springhill, Kathy Knowlton, of Springhill and Barby Weatherbee, of Halifax; four grandchildren, Bill (Wendy), Travis, Carrie, and Kristen; one great grandchild, Julia; a sister, Eleanor Craig, Lower Sackville and a brother, Vincent (Muriel), of Springhill; a sister-in-law, Ethlyn Weatherbee, Springhill, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Earl and George (Buster), and a son-in-law, Bill Knowlton.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of AH Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361) from where a time of visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2013. A funeral service will be held at St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, 11 am, Friday, May 24. Father Phil Thibodeau officiating.
