Maurice "Bud" Anderson
1929-2012
Maurice "Bud" Anderson, 83 years of Springhill, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 in High-Crest Nursing Home, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Justin and Mary (McIssac) Anderson.
Bud worked at Fox Bakery in Springhill and a bakery in Amherst before spending five years in the # 4 and # 2 coal mine in Springhill. He later became a Correction Officer at the Springhill Institution in 1965, retiring in 1994 after 29 years of service.
Bud enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, sports, and had a "love hate" relationship with the Jays and the Leafs. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Gloria Pearl Spence; son; Raymond "Bud" (Cathy) Anderson, Springhill; daughters, Barbara (David) Fuller, Pictou, and Jacie (Rodney) Smith, Springhill; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bud was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by a daughter Linda Kavalak; sisters, Jacie, Margie, Jeano and Isabel; brothers, Ralph and Juddy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Visitation will be held from noon until 2 pm on Monday, August 27, 2012, followed immediately at 2 pm by the funeral service. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, NS.
