Laurie G. Atkinson
1928-2012
Laurie G. Atkinson 83 years of Gable's Lodge, Amherst and formerly of Springhill, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in The Lodge. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Murray and Ivy (Smith) Atkinson.
Laurie served 25 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was a 25 year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 17, Springhill. He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing and his family.
He will be sadly missed by step daughters, Betty (Sam) MacDonald, Springhill; Shirley "Tudy" (Gary) Thomas and Linda (Yuke Goguen) Ripley both of Moncton; brother, Ronald Lloyd Atkinson, Flinn Flon, Manitoba; several step grand and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife the former Dorothy Bernice (Tower) Fisher; infant sister Charlotte.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, 902 597 2361. There will be no visitation by request. A Graveside Committal service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 13, 2012 in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, with The Reverend Wayne McCarther officiating.
