William "Bill" Knowlton 55 years of
Springhill, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at his home with
his loving wife and soulmate, Kathy, by his side. Born in
Springhill, Bill was a son of Audrey (Ross) Knowlton, Springhill and
the Late Ulric "Bud" Knowlton.
Bill
worked at his father's side as a painter and then at the Springhill
Institution as an instructor for CorCan before retiring.
Bill was a long-time volunteer with the Cumberland
Search and Rescue. He was an avid lover of nature and
enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a family man, and loved
spending time with 'Jewel', his special granddaughter.
Bill and Kathy could be found each
summer at Sand Point, Five Islands with their dog Lexi, welcoming all
new visitors.
He will be sadly missed
by his wife of 35 years, Kathy (nee Weatherbee); a son, Bill (Wendy),
of Granville Ferry, NS; a granddaugher, Julia; his mother, Audrey of
Springhill; a sister, Sharon (Rob Weatherbee) Knowlton, Collingwood;
and a brother, Lee (Bernadette) of Amherst as well as several nieces
and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his
father, Bud in 2010.
Cremation has taken place
under the care and supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
St., Springhill (597-2361). Visitation for Bill will be held
from the funeral home on Tuesday, January, 24, 2012 from 1 pm until
the time of the funeral at 2 pm.
Donations in Bill's memory may be made to an animal shelter,
search and rescue organization, or charity of your choice.
