Freeman H Coulter
1920-2010
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Freeman
Howard Coulter, of Springhill, NS announce his passing at the age of
89, on August 6, 2010 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center
surrounded by loving family members.
Born in
Wallace Station, NS in 1920, he was a son of the late Emmerson and
Jane (MacEachern) Coulter.
Freeman was an
honorable man and well respected by all. He served in World
War II, Signal Corp. and worked at MT & T for 37
years. He was actively involved in the community and
especially his church, St. David's Presbyterian, where he was an
active Elder and known as "Mr. Fix It". He was
also treasurer for the Knights of Pythias for many years. He
enjoyed his summers keeping active at the cottage in Pugwash, NS and
visiting long time friends in the surrounding area. He also
loved to hunt, garden and walk. In his early years, previous
to Military Service, he worked at the Pictou Shipyard, Malagash Mines
and in various lumber camps. He was a member of the Aliant
Pioneers, and recently received a Volunteer Award from the Town of
Springhill.
He will be sadly missed by his wife
of 62 years, Eleanor (Leadbetter) Coulter, his children, Fred (Grace),
Sackville, NB, Marilyn (Bill) Beers, High River, AB, Doug (Linda),
Lower Sackville, NS, Paul (Nadine), Hopewell, NS; grandchildren,
Nicole, Monica, Jeff, Claire, Duncan, Sheldon, Sara; great
granddaughter Ava; brother Layton, Dunnville, ON.
He was predeceased by siblings Roland, Beulah, Dorothy, Kathleen,
Claude, and infant Charles.
Arrangements have
been entrusted to the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 Mcfarlane St.,
Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visiting hours will be held on
Sunday from 6 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place
on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 11 am, Rev. Elizabeth Davies
officiating. Burial will take place in the Heatherdale
Memorial Gardens, Alma, NS.
