Beatrice Joan Hayes

Beatrice Joan Hayes  93 years of Springhill, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 in CRHCC, Nappan.  Born in Wimbledon, England, she was a daughter of the Late Oscar and Hilda (Winchester) Johnson.

Beatrice worked at All Saints Hospital, Springhill, for 25 years and was a member of St. John Ambulance during the Second World War.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, traveling in later years and especially with her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter Carol (Fred) Davis, Amherst; sons, Jim Hayes of Toronto and Brud (Shelley) Hayes of Springhill; sister, Betty McCormick of Amherst; brother, Dennis (Eleanor) Johnson of Mississauga, Ontario; eight grandchildren, Paul (Francine) Davis, Burlington, Ontario, Cindy Davis, Amherst, Michael (Sue) Henwood, Fall River, NS, Sherry (Brian) Brown and Tammy Henwood both of Calgary, Shannon Hayes, Toronto, Troy Hayes, Springhill and Kim (Carl) Black, Springhill, six great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren; son in law, Tom Henwood, Amherst; special family friends, John, Maureen and Matthew Smith, Mississauga, Ontario; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Allan Hayes; daughter, Donna Henwood; sister Edith.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361), where visitation will be held 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 today.  Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 13, 2010, from the Funeral Home, with Father David MacDonald officiating.  Burial in North Street RC Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date.
