It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother, the
last of a generation, Marion Hatfield, 80
years, of Springhill, at her home, on Sunday, January 19,
2020.
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late William E.
and Audrey J. (Letcher) Hatfield.
Most of the locals growing up knew her because of the animal
shelter that she owned and operated for many years. It would be hard
to argue the fact that she loved animals more than people. She put her
heart and life into her shelter, and her compassion and strength for
those animals is what will be remembered most about her. She worked
for 11 years as an elementary school teacher. She loved to camp, and
was happiest at the beach.
She was able to see 4 generations blossom in front of her;
son, Joe (Lynne) Hatfield, River Philip, Tony MacLaren, Malibu,
California; daughter, Tanya Hatfield (Roger Hollis), River Philip, NS;
4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great
grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the
A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill (902-597-2361) where cremation has taken place. A
celebration of Marion's life will be held by the shore she adored in
the future.
If you wish to remember Marion, give your pets a snuggle and
a treat, and give her a moment of your thoughts as well. Donations in
memory of Marion may be made to the charity of your
choice.
Sharing of memories and condolences may be sent to the family
