It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Reginald Vincent Rector, age 88, of Springhill.  Reg passed away on July 18, 2019 at Gables Lodge, Amherst, NS.

Born in Springhill, NS, he was a son of the late Vincent and Allmura (Spence) Rector.

Reg was a miner.  After the mines closed, he was a dedicated farmer, and worked at the Sunset Community Home in Pugwash, then Bendex in Amherst .  He loved carpentry work; was an avid gardener, and enjoyed spending time in the woods.

He is survived by his wife Liza (Hachey), Springhill; daughter Nancy (David) Haley, Saint John, NB; sister Olive (Jack) Perry, Amherst, NS; grandchildren Davey (Amanda) Haley, Angela (Matt) London, Joey and Victor (Denise) Sears; great grandchildren Eric, Madison, J.J., Gloria, Autumn, Catlen and Brook Sears.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by daughters Joanne and Cathy; sister Genesta Smith; and brother Roy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St, Springhill, NS (902-597-2361) where visitation will take place on Monday, July 22, 2019  from  Noon to 2 pm, followed immediately by his funeral at 2 p.m. Pastor Sasha Cheprasov officiating. Burial to take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, NS.
