Gerald Robinson Gilbert, 93 years of age, of Springhill, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2019 at the High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Earl & Laura (Shipley) Gilbert.

Gerald was a lover and owner of antique cars. Gerald & Nellie enjoyed going to Florida and made 28 trips over the years.

Gerald is survived by his wife the former, Nellie Hahnen; daughter, Arlene (Jim) MacDonald; grandaughter, Adrienne McCann (Patrick) of Halifax, great grandson, Karson; sister, Shirley Sears (Hudson) of Truro, N.S; step sisters, Noreen Simons (Art), Linda Dunphy (Lee), Beverly Bowes, Sharon Campbell, Marion Varner; step brothers, Don Baker (Jo), Marvin Baker (Marie), Eric Baker (Joan), Jim Hahnen (Wilma); several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Vivian Smith, Doris Caulfield and Faye Livingstone, infant sister Hazel; infant brother Ross; step sister, Joyce Burke; step brothers, Murray McCully, William & Gerald Baker, brother in laws, Ivan & Joseph Hahnen.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS ( 902-597-2361). The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 12- 2 p.m. with a memorial service to be held immediately at 2 p.m. Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
