With much sadness, the family of
Arnold St. Clair Legrow, age 91, announce
his passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst on
Friday, June 14, 2019.
Born in Gardiner, Mass., he was the son
of the late Ernest and Juanita Legrow.
Arnold returned to Springhill with his
family at the age of 8 and was educated in Springhill and after high
school studied radio electronics in St. John NB. He worked
in auto mechanics with his father in his service station in
Springhill, and later taught at the Cumberland Regional Vocational
School for approximately 25 years teaching first heavy equipment
repair and later auto repair. He was a member of the St.
Andrews Wesley United Church and its choir throughout his life and was
active as a young adult first as a Scout leader and later in the adult
program called the Square Circle. Arnold also had a passion
for antique autos and restored and enjoyed two 1923 Model T Fords and
a 1936 Studebaker, and was a member of the Cumberland Car Club for
many years.
Arnold will be sadly missed by his
daughter Lee (Steve) Hamblen, Kitchener, ON, son-in-law David (Darla)
Bradley, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was
predeceased by his wife Doris (nee Smith) of 60 years,
daughters, Maureen and Darla (Bradley) and sister Eudora
(Arnold) Young.
Arnold's remains have been entrusted
into the care of the A.H. Brown Funeral
Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361)
from where the funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2019
at 2 pm. Reception to follow. Interment after the reception
for any who wish to join will take place in the Hillside
Cemetery.
