It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erlene Sharon Potter, 85, of Springhill, surrounded by her family at the All Saints Hospital on Monday, May 20, 2019. Born in Springhill, Erlene was a daughter of the late Anthony and Rhodetta (Dunphy) Beaton.

Mum was loving, caring, kind and considerate. She was always there for us no matter what. When asked for advice about what to do or say, it always seemed to turn out to be the right thing.

Besides being a wonderful homemaker and incredible cook, she worked for a time at MacAloney's Nursing Home as a cook. In her earlier days she enjoyed playing cards, entertaining friends and spending time at Gin's cottage.

Her favourite pastime was doing crossword puzzles, watching classic movies and in particular, spending time in her garden.

She will be dearly missed by daughters, Cathy Potter, Springhill, Melissa (Christopher) Ellwood, Hammonds Plains, NS; a daughter-in-law, Jo-Ann; as well as her grandchildren, Kenneth (Almida), Joseph (Laura) and Jack.

Besides parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Potter, a daughter Virginia and her sons, Joseph, Roderick and Eric, as well as her brother, Donald Beaton.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361). Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will take place at a later date.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the Stroke Team in Truro, The VON, The staff of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre and the very caring staff of All Saints Hospital in Springhill for their compassion and support.

Donations in memory of Erlene may be made to the All Saints Hospital Auxiliary.

Sharing of memories and condolences may be made to the family by visiting Erlene's online memorial at www.brownsfuneralhome.com or though the A.H. Brown Funeral Home Facebook Page.
