Virginia Ruth Potter, 66 years of age, of Halifax, NS, formerly of Springhill, NS passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the All Saints Hospital, Springhill, NS.

Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of Erlene (Beaton) Potter  and the late Kenneth Potter.

Virginia was a very kind and generous person to all.  After graduating from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a Masters in Fine Arts, she stayed on in Halifax and taught in various schools for 34 years.  She very much enjoyed her profession.  Very talented, she enjoyed painting and making jewelry as well as other fine arts items outside of school.  As a true chef, she loved to cook, as well as travel, and entertain, spending time with family and friends.  Her favorite past time was time at her cottage at the beach.

Virginia will be sadly missed by her mother, Erlene, sisters Cathy Potter, Springhill, Melissa (Christopher) Ellwood, Hammonds Plains NS; nephews, Kenneth (Almida), Joseph (Laura) and Jack, all of whom she loved spending time with.

Besides her father, she was predeceased by brothers, Joseph, Roderick and Eric.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). No visitation or service by request.  A family graveside service will take place in the Mapleton Cemetery in the spring.

A special thanks to the neurology team and nurses at the QE 2 Hospital, especially Dr. Jessica Dawe for their compassion during this time.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, or the charity of your choice.

Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Virginia's online memorial at www.brownsfuneralhome.com or through the funeral home Facebook Page.
