Hazel Joan Porter, 72  years of Springhill, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at her home.   

Born in Athol, NS, she was a daughter of the late Alton and Beulah (Weatherbee) Cotton.

Hazel worked as an LPN for ten years and another ten years with Canada Post.  She enjoyed cooking, family and grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by sons, Kevin (Sandra) Cotton, Summerside, PEI and Allen (Kathy) Legere, Truro; daughter, Sharon (Chris) Thurrott, McQuade, NB; brothers, John (Darlene) Cotton, Douglas (Peggy) Cotto and Colin Cotton all of Athol, Roy (Dora) Cotton, Ontario and Lem Cotton of Springhill; sister, Ethel Baxter of Athol; 7 grandchildren, Nicole, Brittany, Garrett, Brooklyn, Ryan, Kallie, and Waylon; 2 great grandchildren, Holden and Theodore; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her second husband, Gorman Porter and by her first husband Charles Legere; granddaughter Mandi; brothers, Allison and Donald.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361).  By request there will be no visitation or funeral service.  Burial in Athol Cemetery on Friday at 10 am.
