It is with sadness we announce the passing of Jean Elizabeth Colwell, age 93, of Springhill. Jean passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at High Crest Nursing Home.
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Thomas "Tom" and Laura (Matheson) Williams.
Family was everything to Jean. She loved spending summers at Heather Beach enjoying every moment with family and friends. Wednesday evenings were spent in her favourite pass-time -playing 45’s with the Happy Neighbours Card Club for many years. She was a wonderful baker and enjoyed baking delicious pies and cakes for her family.
She will be sadly missed by daughter, Laura (Michael) Hicks; Springhill; grandchildren, Jenny (Tim) McMillan, Jayne (Stephen Chase) Hicks, David (Amber Spulnick) Hicks, and Mary Jean (Matthew Ward) Colwell; great grandchildren; Reilly, Angèle, Ainslea, Shaye, Rowan, and Sophia; daughter-in-law Carolyn Colwell, Springhill; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband J. Cecil Colwell in 1997, her son Tom in 2013. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by siblings George, Eleanor, Dorothy, Donald, and infant Bobby.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where a time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm, followed immediately at 3 pm by her funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, in the spring.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at HighCrest Springhill for the excellent care given to Mum/Nan/2Nans for the past nine years. You were not only her caregivers but her second family.
