With sorrow and broken hearts we the family of Kathleen Rebecca
Sutherland 87, years of age, announce her peaceful
passing on Feb 8, 2018 at Gables lodge with her loving family by her
side. Born September 4, 1930 to the late Rose Olivea (Corkum)
MacAloney and Merton Joseph MacAloney.
Kathleen enjoyed scratch tickets, bingo card games and
watching movies with her friends and family, listening to her old
records and her favorite tunes. She loved going to yard sales and
spending time tinkering and fixing up her home and cottage with the
many treasures she found at the yard sales. She loved going for walks
on the beach and spending time at her home and cottage in Five
islands. Kathleen spent the last five years at Gables Lodge and she
had a wit and charm that caught the hearts of all who knew her.
Kathleen enjoyed having a cigarette with her daughters, Shirley
& Debbie, it was the highlight of her day these past few
years.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Merton
"Skip" Sears (Judy), Sidney Sears, Rodney, NS; daughters
Rose Cotton (Gordon) of Windham Hill, NS, Shirley Fillmore ( Brian
Smith) of Amherst, NS, Debby Pettigrew (Gerald) Baker of Amherst ;
several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and
cousins; all her friends and neighbors and everyone who knew her will
remember her for her open heart and smile. We love you mom, a bushel
and a peck and a hug around the neck. You bet your pretty boots we do,
Toodle loodle doo We Love You.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Kenneth Sears, son, Glendon "Gump" Sears, sister, Mary
Baker, brothers, Floyd & Richard MacAloney.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of
A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane
Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) from where a time of visitation
will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Monday, February 12, 2018. A
funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February, 13, 2018 at 2
pm. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, NS at
a later date.
We the family would like to extend our thanks to all who made
moms life a good one.
