It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our
mother, Eleanor M. Beaton, 85 years, of
Springhill, on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in the Cumberland Regional
Health Care Centre. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late
Tom and Mary (Marshall) Raper.
Eleanor had worked at Oxford Frozen Foods for over
twenty-five years. Always a life of the party, she liked to make
people laugh. She was very social and made friends wherever she went.
She was a member of the Pioneers Club, the Springhill Seniors Citizens
Recreation Centre, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Springhill Fire
Department. She enjoyed a good game of cards, trips to the casino with
her sisters as well as traveling to Montreal and Ontario each
year.
She was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother and great
grandmother.
Eleanor will be dearly missed by her daughters,
Joanne White, Springhill, and Mary-Lynn (Teddy Merrey) Hurley, Salt
Springs, NS; her sons, David Beaton, Halifax, and Tom (Micheline)
Beaton, Upper Economy, NS; grandchildren, April, Tammy, Bill, Angela,
Matt, Brad, Jason, Jeremy, Breonna, Reganne, and Callan; great
grandchildren, Zack, Neela, Jacob, Kailyn, Connor, Garrett, Ainsley,
Tessa, Miranda, Samantha, and Isaac; sisters, Georgie (George)
Godfrey, and Rosanna Stonehouse; a brother, Tom (Georgina); a
sister-in-law, Doris Beaton; a daughter-in-law, Susan Smith, many
nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Marilyn
Ward.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Tom in
2009 and a brother-in law, Orrie Stonehouse in 2014.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of
