Richard (aka Rick) Barry Blackett was born in Toronto, Ontario, on July 14 1960. He is one of 8 children born to the late James and Florence Blackett. He passed away peacefully on December 7, 2017, surrounded by his family.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by one brother. He is survived by his wife Delilah Blackett, his son Rick (Alexandra) Blackett and daughter Amanda Blackett, his grand-daughter Chloe-Rose Blackett, sisters Sharon, Irene, Patricia, Sandra and brothers James and Jack, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

After high school Rick began working at Global Furniture Group as an upholsterer, mainly building and assembling office furniture. He would go on to be employed there for most of his working life. He married Delilah Ann Young on July 17, 1981. 2 years later they welcomed their son Richard Blackett. 4 years later they also welcomed their daughter Amanda Blackett.

For most of his working life Rick worked at a factory doing upholstery, mainly building office furniture. Outside of work he was an avid collector, collecting anything he could get his hands on. This would include things such as coins, sports cards, memorabilia, cereal box toys, you name it he collected it. He had to get the whole set of whatever he was working on and, having done so, he would move on to building his next collection. He also enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, and listening to oldies Rock.

In the later stages of his life, he became an avid student of the Bible. Before his death, he finished his goal of reading it cover-to-cover. He came to believe in God's promise of a future resurrection to life on an earth free of sickness, suffering, and death. We look forward to welcoming him back in the near future, when these words will be fulfilled:

"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life" ~John 11:25
