It is with sadness we announce the
passing of Glen Hollis Wood, 95, of
Springhill. Glen passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at
High Crest Nursing Home.
Born in Springhill, he was a son of the
late Guy and Inga (Olsen) Wood.
Glen was a member of St. Andrews-Wesley
United Church, Springhill and Royal Canadian Legion Branch
#17. After enlisting in 1942, he served overseas four years
during World War II. He worked in lumbering, as a mechanic
and as a commissionaire. He enjoyed fly fishing and bird
watching.
He will be sadly missed by his brother,
John (Helen) Wood of Springhill, as well as several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife the
former Eileen Phyllis Gilroy; brothers, Alfred, Harold, Clyde, and
Leonard, and sisters, Frances, Lenora, Eileen and
Ruth.
Cremation has taken place under the
direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). A Graveside
committal service will be held at Friday, October 20. 2017 at 1pm in
the Leamington Cemetery, with The Reverend Wayne McCarther
officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the
Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, The Canadian Cancer
Society or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
