It is with great sadness that we
announce the peaceful passing of Brenda Judy
McAloney, 56, of Southampton, at the Cumberland
Regional Health Care Centre on Sunday July 2, 2017. Born in
Springhill, Brenda was a daughter of Frances (nee Bird), and the Late
Arthur McDonald.
Brenda was a loving and devoted wife,
mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her
grandchildren, including her special bond with her granddaughter,
Niley. She loved traveling and sitting at the beach in the
sun. She was kind and caring and loved her dogs.
Brenda was a member of the St.
Andrew's-Wesley United Church, Springhill.
She will be sadly missed by her husband,
George McAloney, Springhill; her mother, Frances (nee Bird); her
children, Michelle McAloney, Springhill, David (Sarah) McAloney,
Mineville, NS, and Danny (Brittany) McAloney, Lower Sackville, NS; a
step-daughter, Amanda (Dwight) Lowther, Moncton; three grandchildren,
Niley, Jacob, and Rowan; one brother, Bert (Alice) McDonald, Pictou
Landing; mother-in-law, Margaret McAloney, Springhill, as well as
several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and close
friends.
Besides her father, she was predeceased
by her brother Frank, and her father-in-law, George
McAloney.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361) from where a time of
visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9
pm. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home on
Thursday at 2 pm, with a burial to follow in the Mapleton
Cemetery. Rev. Wayne McCarther presiding.
The family wishes to extend their
heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Harrison, Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Short, as well
as the staff of the Palliative Care Unit/Medical Unit of the
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for their compassion and
support.
Donations in memory of Brenda may be
made to St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church, or the Mapleton
Cemetery.
