After a brief illness, Laura Jean Hughes, 74, of Springhill, passed away at home the morning of Sunday June 18, 2017. Laura was born in Springhill, a daughter of the Late Emmerson and Evelyn (Lyman) Rolfe.

Laura loved a drive in the country and listening to the sound of the ocean. She was an avid music fan, with a particular interest in old time country music.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Larry Hughes, Donny (Vivian) Hughes, Terry Hughes; two sisters, Barbara (Corey) Dowe, ON and Nettie (Late Gerald) Porter; grandchildren, Jasmin, Andrew, Alicia, Michelle and Colin; several nieces, nephews and close friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her second husband, J.D. Hughes, son, Doug Teeter, Ron Hughes, and a sister, Eleanor.

Arrangements are under the care and supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street Springhill (902-597-2361). Honouring Laura's wishes, there is to be no visitation or funeral services.

Donations in memory of Laura may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
